Mission & Vision

Know God.  Make God known. Love our community.

The Mission

The mission of Pulaski Free Methodist Church is
to know God and make God known.

I want to know Christ.  Philippians 3.10

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.  Psalm 67:1-2

They shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age. . .   Psalm 92:12

The Vision

The vision of Pulaski Free Methodist Church is
to love our community into a relationship with Jesus.

Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is just like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'  Matthew 22:37-40

To Know God

The quality of a tree is the reflection of the soil and environment in which it grows, plus the depth and health of the root system. "For every tree growing up there is a tree growing down. As real as the tree that can be seen is the tree that can't be seen, and the hidden tree is the secret of the visible one," writes George Duncan.

To know God is to grow down into his Word, reading, listening, studying, applying. As the root system grows, so the tree grows taller and sturdier. The tree changes the environment, shapes the landscape; provides things like shade, fruit, and life-giving oxygen; filters out carbon dioxide; stabilizes the soil; and gives life to all types of wildlife.

and Make God Known

As we grow in the knowledge of God, we grow up, up, up, spreading bountiful branches wide.  We change the environment of our relationships, family, neighborhood, and community, shaping a landscape teeming with renewed life.  We provide fruit to address the needs around us, engaging in service-minded ministry. We share the life-giving oxygen of Jesus Christ.

To make God known is to be centered on others for Jesus' sake; to share hope by sowing the extravagance of the Gospel where we live, work, and play; to help meet the needs of those around us; to disciple others by living life-on-life; to apply our spiritual gifts both in and out of the church.

To Love Our Community

Agape love is the highest form of love. It is unconditional, selfless, and active.   This is the love God has for us. "For God so loved  (agape) the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).  This is costly love. His entire life, from birth to resurrection was agape love. This is the love Jesus calls us to manifest in the greatest commandment: to love God, to love our neighbors, and to love ourselves.

Our vision is to “love our community into a relationship with Jesus.” This is not about a sentimental or emotional feeling. This is not a “we really, really, really, really like” our community statement. If we were to translate this word love into Greek, we would use the word “agape” to express the type of love we choose to manifest to and in our community.  This is costly love, but it is worth it. Faith, hope, and love endure forever.

Core Values

Centered on Others for Jesus' Sake

Every person matters to Jesus; and therefore, out to matter to us.

Hospitable

We practice hospitality and believe Jesus followers should be friends to all. We welcome with open arms: the least, the lost, the lonely, and the broken just as Jesus hung out with sinners, drunks, tax collectors, and prostitutes.

Service-Minded

We are contributors, not consumers. We anticipate and are responsive to the expressed and unexpressed needs of our community: local, regional, and global.

Accountable

We are accountable to ourselves, one another, and God.

Dedicated

We completely and wholeheartedly devote ourselves emotionally, physically, spiritually, and principally to a course of action and see it through.
